D² isn’t just a garden — it’s a movement. Founded and maintained by Donnie Young III and Donnie Young IV, D² is a free urban farm dedicated to growing and giving away organic produce, plants, and seeds
to the Wichita, KS community.
Born from a desire to reclaim time, purpose, and connection, D² stands as proof that real food can be grown anywhere — even in a modest front yard. After decades in the financial services industry, Donnie III stepped away from the grind to build something real with his family, supported by M.Y. Snackies, their family-owned freeze-dried treat and candy store. D² was born out of that shift — a garden with a bigger mission:

At D², everything is grown organically by hand using sustainable urban farming practices. No chemicals, no shortcuts — just healthy, real food. Rainwater is collected to nourish the crops, and nearly every bed, trellis, and structure is built from repurposed and recycled materials. We are committed to resourcefulness, sustainability, and building stronger communities through real action.
Every harvest at D² is free.
Visitors are welcome to walk through the garden, pick what they need, and enjoy fresh, organic produce — with the simple understanding that taking only what you’ll use helps ensure there’s enough for everyone.
This garden thrives through passion, hard work, and the generosity of those who believe in what we’re doing.
There are no sales, no fees, and no gates —
only free seeds, free plants, and free food for the people of Wichita.
Looking ahead, D² plans to build a greenhouse and an aquaponics system to extend our growing season and feed even more families.
